Kate Lawrence (ella) se graduó de la Escuela de Enfermería de Yale en 2011. Ha adquirido experiencia tanto en entornos hospitalarios de bajos como de altos recursos, así como en el centro de parto independiente más antiguo de la ciudad de Nueva York. Kate tiene una especial pasión por trabajar con adolescentes, brindar consejería sobre anticonceptivos y abogar por el parto fisiológico, apoyándolo en todo momento.

Why should someone choose you to care for their health?
I am committed to meeting each patient where they are during our visit. My training and experience have taught me that healthcare is not one-size-fits-all. If I am not the right provider for your needs, I will make every effort to connect you with someone who can help.

What is the most important thing your patients should expect from their professional relationship with you? What do you expect from them?
My goal is for every patient to leave their appointment feeling that their health concerns have been heard and addressed. In turn, I expect open and honest communication from my patients, so I can better understand their needs and provide the best care possible.

How do you spend your valuable personal time when you’re not caring for patients?
In my free time, I’m an avid reader, hiker, and puzzle enthusiast. I love hosting friends and family at my home in the Catskills. Whether I’m relaxing at home or off on an adventure, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places. Snorkeling in the Caribbean or Florida Springs with manatees is my favorite way to escape the cold New York winters. I make it a goal to visit one or two new states each year, and so far, Alaska has been my favorite. I also aim to visit one or two National Parks annually, with the hope of experiencing them all.

Why did you choose your specialty and what is its greatest reward?
I’ve been fascinated by pregnancy and childbirth from a young age, even campaigning (unsuccessfully) to be present at my brother’s birth. I grew up intending to pursue a career in healthcare, and in high school, I met a midwife who introduced me to the idea that I could care for women without becoming a doctor. That conversation was a pivotal moment for me, shaping my academic and professional journey. Now, thirteen years into my midwifery career, the most rewarding part of my work continues to be the deep relationships I form with my patients.
